- I have an A3000 desktop which I have been trying to upgrade with an A3640 (v. 3.1). On that
- issue, I seem to have a heat problem because I still get SCSI checksum errors with my upgraded RAMSEY-07
- and DMAC-04. I still have an old BUSTER-07 which I will be upgrading to -11. I will be putting in fans
- to cool things down inside.
- Anyway, during all this, I blew my floppies (neither my internal nor external PC HD work) -
- probably while plugging in my Power Computing HD drive with the power on. I have put 2 new 8520 CIA's in
- there but the floppies are still dead - they won't even spin when I insert a disk. The light on the
- internal is always on (bad sign..) except for rare times before I insert a floppy immediately after power
- on. When I insert the disk, the light comes on dimly but the drive won't spin and the system never sees
- DF0 or DF1. Do I need a new Gary chip? Should I get the Adv. Amiga Analyzer (not cheap and software is
- floppy based which makes installation tricky)? Could other parts be bad? I appreciate any and all
- help...Thanks.
- By the way, does anyone know how to get the giant heat sink off my A3640's 040 chip w/o messing up
- 040?; it is glued on tight with that heat sink compound and is too big to fit under drive platform.
- Thanks for reading my looong cry for help! Please respond by EMAIL and POST if possible.
